GreenFields Sports Turf Partner Wins Bid To Refurbish Aging Courts

Santiago de Chile, Chile (April 21, 2015) – MW Sport Welt, exclusive distributor of GreenFields artificial turf systems in Chile, recently completed construction of a new athletic field for Everest College. The new field is built on the foundation of an earlier construction that had succumbed to wear due to a number of factors including weather and high usage.

The original field was built by one of MW Sport Welt’s primary competitors.

“The school called us recently to participate in the bidding for the new athletic track of the College.” says MW Sport Welt General Manager Juan Carlos Moeckel. “Thanks to the good experience we had with this work we were again called to participate in the renewal of the synthetic pitch.”

Sporting Kansas City (Sporting KC) will be presenting the opening ceremony for their brand new SWOPE Soccer Village facility today at 4:30 PM. The field had its unofficial opening on September 5. The project represents a major expansion that includes six brand new fields that will serve as a state-of-the-art training center for Sporting KC.

In recent years, the use of artificial turf in a wide variety of professional sports has increased considerably. Isn’t it wonderful just how meaningful sport can be. Take Stellenbosch in South Africa, where Dutch government minister Lilianne Ploumen opened a mini artificial turf field on Tuesday July 8. The field was laid with Dutch support as part of the Worldcoaches program. This is a Dutch Soccer Association (KNVB) project for training coaches in developing countries.

Union City, GA – US Professional soccer club Sporting Kansas City, the 2013 MLS Cup Champions, is expanding its Swope Soccer Village training center to include six new GreenFields artificial turf soccer fields. Construction has already begun and new fields should be ready for play in September of this year.  

‘The World Cup field is very fast’ is the headline in Monday’s Dutch top newspaper above a nearly full two-page spread. ‘The best artificial turf for playing field hockey’ is the arresting title of an article at least as big in another newspaper. Both newspapers published reports on the field hockey World Cup being played in The Hague. And there was lavish praise for the field in both pieces.

The Kyocera Stadium of soccer club ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands has today been delivered featuring a newly installed GreenFields® TX top-class Field Hockey field as the main stadium for the 2014 Field Hockey World Cup. The nearby, temporary GreenFields Stadium – the second playing location of the tournament – was ready for play earlier. The Rabobank 2014 Field Hockey World Cup will be held in The Hague from 31 May through 15 June.

Mini Fenway Park in Oakland Maine has initiated a revitalization project that includes a brand new sports turf installation from GreenFields. The field dedication will take place June 21th, 2014. Mini Fenway Park officials announced that they selected the GreenFields turf system and have contracted with NET – Eastern Builders, our GreenFields partner to perform the installation. Work began on the project in late April and is scheduled to be completed and ready for use in time for the dedication.

U.S. Soccer has named Jozy Altidore: national team forward, as its male athlete of the year for 2013. He captured an impressive 50% of votes cast by representatives of U.S. Soccer as well as members of the media. This is the first award of its kind for Altidore and it came in a year that saw some of his most impressive work to date. During the past season, he scored a total of eight goals for the national soccer team – a new career high – and tallied 31 times in the Netherlands playing for AZ Alkmaar. His performance for AZ earned him transfer to play for the English Premeire League in Sunderland.
