Most Improved Pitch in League Two for XtraGrass at The Kassam Stadium

Thursday, April 7 2016 – The GreenFields XtraGrass pitch at The Kassam Stadium has been elected by the International Football Pitch Advisory (IFPA) as the most improved pitch from the previous season in League Two.

Home to Oxford United Football Club, The Kassam Stadium had its XtraGrass pitch installed by GreenFields in Summer 2015. Since installation the GreenFields Grounds Team have been responsible for maintaining the pitch ensuring it is in optimum condition before each match.
XtraGrass is a hybrid system which incorporates the reinforcement of artificial turf giving players the opportunity to experience their games on a pitch which has 100% natural grass feeling.

Commercial Director, Paul Milton commented: “GreenFields are proud to have installed and to be maintaining our XtraGrass pitch at The Kassam Stadium. We have seen more teams this year opting for XtraGrass which provides an extremely durable pitch which can sustain play 365 days a year in any weather! This accolade is testament to the quality of XtraGrass and the expertise of our Grounds Team.”

For the last two seasons, League Two club, Oxford United have finished in 13th and 8th place. This season, with their home games on the new XtraGrass pitch they have maintained a place near the top of the table and look likely to be in with a chance of promotion to League One.

Plus, they played in the Final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Sunday 3 April, which they achieved by battling it out against the other 47 teams in both League One and Two. Despite a great effort from the players they were defeated 3-2 by League One side, Barnsley Football Club. Good Luck Oxford in your remaining league matches, there is a lot left to play for this season!
