Celebrating the power of Football

32 teams of young people from disadvantaged communities around the world are participating at the Football for Hope Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa. The boys and girls are members of organisations which tackle social issues using football – from homelessness in the UK and landmines in Cambodia, to HIV/Aids education in South Africa and integration of refugees in Australia.

Festival participants are selected for their contribution to building a better future in their respective communities. The Football for Hope Festival includes an array of exciting programmes culminating in a one-week football tournament.

The tournament will be played on a football pitch supplied and installed by GreenFields, as partner of the Football for Hope Movement. The mini-pitch consists of a non-filled synthetic turf, combined with an Airlastic© Foam shock pad, and a boarding system.

The Festival was opened by the President of South Africa Jacob Zuma and FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter. For more information on the opening of the Football for Hope Festival 2010 in Alexandra, please visit fifa.com
